future food

vr experience, unity, immersive learning space

2025

future food is an immersive vr-experience exploring alternative food resources that could play a role in reducing the carbon footprint of food production. developed for the leibniz institute of vegetable and ornamental Crops e.V., the project divides the physical exhibition space into two distinct virtual environments, inviting users to discover six interactive stations. through conversations with NPCs, each station reveals a different story of production, sustainability, and nutritional potential.

built in unity in collaboration with maria bueno and emily krüger, and supervised by prof. pablo dornhege, the experience combines a realistic and approachable visual language with a clear educational focus, making future-oriented food systems feel more familiar. after its initial presentation at the 2025 werkschau at htw berlin, the project was later booked for "auf tuchfühlung mit der zukunft" at futurium berlin, engaging an estimated 1,000 active users.
